Children's Program

The Dressage Center has a well rounded children’s riding program with the emphasis on a very balanced seat for Dressage, Jumping or Cross Country. Our well trained, safe and sane horses/ponies, together with well trained staff will teach the children first individually, later in small groups. We teach not only riding on the horse, but also important horsemanship off the horse.

• Grooming and/or washing the horse.
• Taking care of the mane and tail.
• Tacking up the horse.
• Proper care of tack and fitting the tack to your horse.
• Cleaning of the stall.
• Proper feed and Nutrition for the horse.
• Watching the shoer taking care of the horses feet
• Watching the veterinarian take care of the horse.
• Preparing a horse for a horse show.
• Helping and understanding about horse shows.
• Participating in a horse show and riding in a junior class.

It is important for the children’s safety to have a very good foundation in basic Dressage. In that way they will have balance, security and control over the horse/pony. When the child is confident and secure, our program will then give the child a good education in jumping and cross country riding. Later the child can choose to go into any kind of equestrian sport more detailed.

There is a lot of fun in riding and taking care of the school horse/pony or maybe even your own! Leases are available for the more advanced child. When balance, confidence and understanding are mastered, then there are fun junior classes at horse shows to participate in.
