Roger Seegert Clinics

   

Roger SeegertRoger Seegert is a successful international trainer/ rider who is a popular clinician and active competitor.

Roger began his dressage career by becoming a working student at the Westphalian Riding School under Major Stecken where he received his Bereiter degree. After completing his military service, he furthered his training under Georg Theodorescu. In 1980 he joined Hans and Eva Maria Pracht at their dressage stable in Germany and later moved with them to Canada where they found I.E.S.S - site of the 1986 World Equestrian Games. Roger returned to Germany to further his training under master Willi Schultheis. The following year he was awarded the Stensbeck Plaque for honors in his Masters Degree by the German FN.

In 1982 Roger began competing at the International level and quickly became known for his musical freestyle. In 1984 he took the position of trainer at a dressage facility near London, Ontario. Together with the owner, Roger developed Kilbyrne Farm into a leading Canadian training and competition center, having himself over 200 placings and wins from the medium to Grand Prix level.

Roger became a Canadian citizen in May of 1988. That same year he was the Canadian Grand Prix champion, Medium Champion and Reserve Advanced Champion and was named the alternate to the Canadian Olympic team which won the Bronze medal. The following year Seegert won the Grand Prix Kur at the North American Championships. In 1990, he qualified two horses for the World Dressage Championships in Stockholm, Sweden.

He returned to Germany in 1991 to prepare for the World Cup final under the instruction of Herbert Rehbein. Afterwards, he stayed and continued his training under mentor Willi Schuldheis. In 1992, he was once again named the alternate for the Canadian Olympic Team headed for Barcelona

In 1994, Roger represented Canada at the World Equestrian Games in Hague, Netherlands. He also finished the year placing 15th in the World Dressage Rankings.
Because a properly designed dressage saddle is fundamental to effective riding and maximum comfort and fit for the horse, Roger developed together with Jochen Schleese the “Seegert” dressage saddle which is available through Schleese Saddlery.

A member of the international Dressage Trainers Club, Roger currently resides in the South of Germany with his wife Karen and his daughter Tessa where they manage a large facility. He continues to bring horses and riders to successfully compete at the FEI levels.
