2022 USDF Dressage Horse of the Year Award - Champion Third Level
2022 CDS and USDF Region 7 Champion OPEN 3rd Level and 3rd Level Freestyle 2022 12th Place at the US Championship/ Festival of Champions in Chicago 2022 FEI 6-yo Test with 81.8% 2021 USDF Second Level Level J/YR Champion 2021 CDS Second Level J/YR Champion 2021 FEI 5-yo Test with 84.8% and 81.4% 2020 USDF Training Level J/YR Champion 2020 CDS Northern California Junior Reserve Champion Qunique was born and raised here at CNDC. He was stared at our facility by a Junior/ Young Rider in November 2019 and half a year later she had already competed with him at his first Dressage Show earning scores in the 70's. During his first year under saddle, the talented gelding went on to earn the Reserve Junior Championships in Northern California at Training Level, receiving scores in the 70's, including multiple 9s. By the end of the 2020 season, Qunique won the USDF Training Level at the California Annual Championship Show. In November 2020, the pair reached their next milestone when competing at First Level for the first time and right away earning a 72%! At 5 years old, during the 2021 show season, the chestnut gelding has scored in the mid-70's at Second Level and awed the judges with his performances at the Young Horse Qualifiers for the US Championship in Chicago, bringing home scores up to 84%! Shortly thereafter, Qunique won the Second Level USDF and CDS Championship at the 2021 Annual Show with his J/YR rider. With the beginning of the 2022 show season, the pair moved on to Third Level. Now competing in the Open division with his rider of the past three years, the pair has already brought home multiple scores in the 70's again, including a 72.8% at Third Level Test 3 from former Olympic-Judge Axel Steiner. At FEI young horse classes, Qunique has brought home scores of over 80% and recently made his Fourth Level debut already scoring at over 70% as well.
This chestnut gelding is out of our mare Ferara, who has produced multiple top quality Dressage foals. His half sister Wintessa has been trained up through PSG/ I1 and received scores into the 70's at CDIs here in California. Another half sister, Donna Dia, has also had a promising start to her show career, receiving 73% at First Level at 5 years of age. Qunique is very people oriented and loves the attention he gets from anyone stopping by his stall. He has a very expressive and easy to sit canter, an elastic trot, and a rhythmic walk that allowed him to consistently bring home high scores in the collected marks for his tests. He is a perfect horse for someone looking for a talented horse that has the potential to go all the way and have lots of fun during that journey. |
